Posture of Prayer

Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD. (Psalms 4:4-5)

Lord, what good instruction these verses hold.

In these words we are given a perfect guide for our “posture of prayer”.

  • Be still – Close out the world around me, put my thoughts only on You.
  • Meditate in my heart – On Your word, confessing my sin and seeking Your righteousness.
  • Praise You – For Your love, mercy, and grace that frees me from the power of sin and has delivered me from the penalty of my sin.
  • Honor You – Committing myself to You, obeying Your word.
  • Trust You – Believing Your word, Your promises. Living confident in the truth of your word, You cannot lie.

These are the things that will grow our faith and give us the strength we need for the journey.

Lord, search my heart. Show me where I am coming up short. Bring me to my knees.
