We have been studying the book of wisdom for seven chapters and eleven weeks now. In our study we have learned that there are five assurances wisdom gives us as told in Proverbs 8:6-9. When we evaluate where we are on the wisdom scale and consider the wisdom’s assurances, it would serve us well to think about how we measure up in our own conduct.
This week we are going to talk about the Preeminence of Wisdom. In Proverbs 8:12-13, Wisdom defines her superior superiority in two ways. We will examine those ways and how they apply to the world we live in today’s world.
Do you ever look around and ask yourself, “what has become of common sense”? I know I do. James tells us that wisdom is ours for the asking.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)
This week we are taking a walk down a street we will call Victory Lane. We have been studying the consequences of ignoring the voice of Wisdom; now we are going to look at the great rewards of heeding Wisdom’s voice.
During the weeks ahead we will examine some of the many facets of wisdom and discover how wisdom and understanding will help us live a richer, more victorious and God honoring life.
Welcome. As our study in Proverbs 7 continues we find Solomon personifying Wisdom and Foolishness; both are represented as women. Solomon tells us “Wisdom” is the voice of that which is right and good and of great value, “Foolish” the voice of evil, wickedness, and destruction.
Two women, two voices, two paths.
This week we are going to take a virtual walk down Temptation Street where Solomon will introduce us to three dubious characters.
Are you ready ladies? Then put your boots on and let’s get walking.
In the opening verses of chapter 7, Solomon warns us, through good instruction, concerning the path of sin.
Solomon tells us that if we are to avoid the destructive consequences of sin, we first must be alert to the danger.
One way we can overcome temptation is to avoid it; avoid the situations that invite temptations to come against us in the first place. In this week’s lesson, Solomon counsels us on how we can be victorious over those “temptations that are common to man”.

It’s a fact, life is full of choices. Every day we make hundreds of decisions, most of which have no serious consequences. But, there are other decisions we make that have the potential to change the course of our life.
In our lesson this week, Solomon is going to talk to us about the critical choices of life and the resulting consequences we can expect from the decisions we make.

In Ephesians 6:10-11 we are told to be strong in the Lord, to put on the armor of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the devil.
Satan, among his other wicked characteristics, is a schemer. Strongs uses the word “wiles” and defines it as traveling over, travesty, (trickery): – wile, lie in wait. His schemes are not always apparent, in fact, often his schemes appear to be harmless.
This week’s lesson will take us through Proverbs chapter 4 and show how to put on the armor we need to guard ourselves from the enemy’s wicked schemes.

Proverbs 3 opens with an exhortation and a promise.
Solomon tells his son, (and us) to keep his teaching and commandments for all his days. The promise? Peace.
Think about all the troubles of this life. Would you agree most of our troubles are the result of someone, ourselves or others, simply not doing the right thing?
That’s what Proverbs 3 is about – making the right decisions, choosing the right course, doing the right thing.
I apologize that this week’s study is not available. Things got a little hectic around the Smith house this past week so I postponed getting the lesson together, thinking I would prepare it early this morning.
Well, we all know if something can go wrong, it will. And so it did, obviously showing a lack of wisdom on my part.
I sat down at my computer, ready to post, but all my computer wants to do is moan and groan; it sounds a lot like me trying to get out of bed in the mornings.
I have hit every button on the keyboard, which is likely part of the problem, I have probably confused the poor thing. However, in spite of all my efforts, that silly cursor just sits there, frozen, and it doesn’t look like it plans on moving anytime soon.
I’ve resorted to my IPad to let you know what’s going on and to apologize for the delay. I will get the lesson posted as soon as possible – keep watching, or, if you aren’t already following, you can do so and get notified as soon as the post is up.
Thank you all for your understanding; prayers would be much appreciated.
Last week we talked about God’s conditional promises. This week our study takes us to Proverbs, chapter 2 where we will further explore those condition by looking at three key aspects of Wisdom.
